Checking. Adjusting. Reassessing. But healthcare systems are under pressure. Patients are more complex. Staff is stretched. And many prevention routines still rely on manual actions that are easy to miss, delay, or perform inconsistently.
So, the question becomes:
How can support surfaces be autonomous, not to replace care, but to make prevention more reliable, sustainable, and person-centred?

This symposium will explore the critical role of slough in impaired wound healing and introduce Continuous Integral Debridement as an innovative and practical approach to its management with Urgo Medical products.
The session will begin with an overview of slough, its pathophysiology, and the challenges it represents in wound care, presented by Paulo Alvès (Portugal). Dieter Mayer (Switzerland) will then introduce the concepts of Integral Debridement and Continuous Integral Debridement, highlighting how this cyclical, proactive approach can improve wound bed preparation. Finally, Kate Moran (Northern Ireland) will share real-world clinical experience in managing slough in pressure ulcers, illustrating the benefits of this approach in daily practice.

It will focus on critical care in hospital settings and palliative care in both hospital and home care settings, where clinical complexity and care conditions can make consistent repositioning difficult. The symposium will discuss how a turn-assisted support surface may help sustain repositioning practice, and its potential impact on workflow, support for caregivers, and quality of care. It will also include an industry perspective on how innovation can address unmet needs in pressure injury prevention.

Time slots will be allocated according to the level of sponsorship secured by each industry. For example, Platinum sponsors will receive priority over Gold and Silver sponsors.

IMPORTANT
Industry session speakers fixed fee
All speakers must be registered for the conference. Registration, accommodation, and travelling costs must be covered by the company for any invited speaker or chair person.
If the speaker is also an invited speaker at the EPUAP scientific programme or EPUAP Executive Board Member/EPUAP Trustee, the company must pay a fixed fee to EPUAP. The fixed fee covers the speaker’s hotel room for 2 nights, the registration fee, and travel expenses.
The fee is €1,400 for speakers from outside Ireland and €1,100 for speakers from Ireland. If there are more companies inviting the same speaker, the costs will be split evenly between all of them. Companies will be invoiced the fixed fee just before or just after the conference.
EPUAP holds the right to invite speakers until the time of conference and can therefore not provide a full list of speakers during the planning of the event.
